Food for thought...

Most of us are die-hard foodies. How we just love visiting famous eatery joints and restaurants.Love the idea of going out to favourite restaurants on just about any ocassion.
Since the time i was a kid,i enjoyed such outings.Ordering lavish delicious food and the satisfaction you get when your stomach is filled with yummies. Many a times we become so full, we do not consume fully what we have ordered. But, the next time you visit a restaurant,do not waste the food you have ordered.Do not even let the waiter take away the left over food.Simply tell him to pack it.
Yes,i only recently discovered that almost all restaurants including the big ones pack your leftover food for you. So,either take it home for next day's meal or simply give it to the street kids. You'l definitely find many on your way back home from the restaurant.Instead of wasting food since it usually goes into the bin or i have heard this that one's leftover food is mixed with the fresh lot and served to another(eeks!) Isnt it better to give it to a hungry kid?Think about it the next time you go out to eat.....and incase you dont follow what i just shared don't complain of a stomach upset after visiting eating joints, maybe someone's left over food found place into your plate ;)

Speaking Streets...

This children's day was special and memorable. This day was spent with three of my friends, working on our First Documentary-'Speaking Streets',a short docu on the lives of street children and their daily tryst with the world around them. Our tagline is:There is happiness and innocence in their strives but there are unanswered questions in their lives.....

Basically tells the story of Arun the ragpicker,Golu and Saagar, the boot polishers and Shanu,Ningru,Tanjali the beggars. We show their work and their innocence and talk to them candidly about everything they do.
Their is a different situation to each. While Shanu seems to be very intelligent and willing to study, noones sure whether she'l get the right encouragement and opportunity.
Golu and Saagar, two grown up kids dream of and idolise bollywood heroes, have fun everyday outside Dilli Haat where they work. But their future is a Big Question mark!Arun the young ragpicker boy came to Delhi just a month ago from his village in Bijnaur, where he used to go to school. He says he will return there next year but god only knows where life would take him.

All these protagonists of our documentary point towards a larger picture of lives of millions of underprivileged street children. How they are spending their life without the basic neccessities, benefits and rights that each one of us deserves.
We finally finished the editting work yesterday,by the way we have done that independently with help just with regard to few technical aspects of the software. And it was just an amazing and fulfilling experience. We have also sent it as our entry for IIMC fest.Lets see how the audience receives it.......
