Its 2008,we have heard this before and said this too.Our nation is going ahead and doing wonders.But,we still find children of our country far away from their basic right-Education.
Over 380 million people are illiterate in our country.
And we'l find many such kids who are begging on streets,employed as labourers in factories,small shops etc. when they should be sitting in classrooms.
And of those who join schools,the dropout level is very high.Most don't make it to College level,
forget about Job level.
The situation is sad.But hope never dies.
On July,6th,2008 TOI after its successful 'Lead India' campaign came up with 'Teach India'
Where educated people can contribute by teaching the underprivileged children.All you need to do is take out 2hrs time in a week.Log on to http://www.teach.timesofindia.com/ and fill up the form. Choose an area near your vicinity.
An NGO will then get in touch with you and assign you with your task.
So,its as simple as that.Participate and encourage others too.2hrs is nothing,so get up and get going.
